The Son Of Coro

The “Son of Coro” design, incorporated into my very first resin art piece, holds deep personal significance and was inspired by the teachings of rakau, a traditional Māori craft passed down from my friend Ash’s late mother. This design was chosen as a finalist in our local exhibition, a moment I hold close to my heart. The motifs embedded within the piece are symbolic of knowledge, growth, and self-worth—core principles of Māori culture. Through the rakau, I learned the importance of grounding oneself in ancestral wisdom, acknowledging the strength and resilience carried within our lineage. The “Son of Coro” reflects the belief that by connecting to this deep reservoir of knowledge, we empower ourselves to realize our own value and potential. This design not only represents a personal journey of learning and healing.
